Recognitions from Senator Thom Tillis
My commitment to service extends well beyond my professional career. I have had the opportunity to direct and support numerous organizations in achieving their missions. I have volunteered extensively with the National PTA—serving as Secretary/Treasurer and North Carolina State President—as well as Forsyth Education Partners, Pop Warner, and other community groups. As a very proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University and Georgetown University’s Graduate School for Nonprofit Management. I am an active participate in alumni activities. As a life long learner, I hold a Six Sigma Green Belt, bringing a results-driven, accountable approach to leadership and governance. I served as the North Carolina PTA president. Also, I held other leadership roles at the local, state, and national ranks of the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA). I served as the National Secretary/Treasurer. I oversaw a $20 million annual operation budget and a $20 million investment portfolio. I was Treasurer at the height of Covid 19. We had to take actions to preserve the organization. We came out leaner and more efficiently. Plus, it permits me to opportunities to convene organization’s vision and mission to our membership, funders, and sponsors. I have fostered relationships with other family advocates, both locally and nationally.
