Donald’s Background

A lifelong advocate for education and community, he brings more than 30 years of real-world experience as a businessman, leader, and volunteer. He and his family have owned and operated two early childhood development centers, providing a deep understanding of student needs, family engagement, and workforce development. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in sales, brand, and finance, managing teams of all sizes and overseeing budgets ranging from $40 million to $150 million

He is a loving husband to his wife, and the proud father of a wonderful daughter who is a Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools graduate. His commitment to service extends well beyond his professional career. He has directed and supported numerous organizations in achieving their missions and has volunteered extensively with the National PTA—serving as Secretary/Treasurer and North Carolina State President—as well as Forsyth Education Partners, Pop Warner, and other community groups. A graduate of Winston-Salem State University and Georgetown University’s Graduate School for Nonprofit Management, he also holds a Six Sigma Green Belt, bringing a results-driven, accountable approach to leadership and governance.
